The BB Alert Monitoring System
Unfortunately Bed Bugs are becoming more widely spread in recent years, partly due to travellers to and from other countries inadvertently bringing them with them in their luggage. They are difficult to spot as they hide during the day, only to come out at night to feed. They can hide in tiny crevices within your bed frame or mattress and even behind skirting boards, inside power and light sockets.
Their bite is unpleasant and itchy and leaves noticable marks behind. They actually home in on our breathing to find their target by being incredibly sensitive to the carbon dioxide in our breath.
BB Alert is an eco-friendly, discrete and easy to use bed bug monitoring device that lures bed bugs inside and traps them to provide evidence of bed bugs being present. It is pesticide free and environmentally safe and can be used anywhere as part of an ongoing monitoring programme. It is designed to be used when you suspect a bed bug problem to provide confirmation or after treatment to satisfy yourself that it has been succesful.
As it is safe and discrete it can be used in rooms without affecting the usage or ambience of the room.
How is it used?
Bed Bug treatment can be costly, therefore before and after treatment the BB Alert can be used to verify and monitor their prescence as well as trapping those that enter the monitor.
The monitor itself is a small grey plastic tray with lid measuring just 13cm x 9cm x 4cm. The tray has small upright prongs and a sticky catchment area. Into the monitor you place the activator, which when exposed to the air warms to body temperature whilst at the same time precisely mimicking our own respiration. The plastic pins within the monitor are designed to be similar to animal fur.
Upon activation you leave the monitor for 24 hours under the bed or mattress in the room. Because the activator mimicks respiration and body temperature, bed bugs are attracted to it and enter. Within the monitor they are trapped by the sticky base and are unable to leave, providing confirmation of activity.
There have been other bed bug devices available in the UK before but without any way of encouraging the bed bug to go inside. This monitor actively draws the bed bug from its hiding place, without the activator it would be pure luck if a bed bug chose to enter.
The monitor can be used up to 3 times if evidence of bed bug activity has not been found. It is supplied with two activator sachets, the sachets operate for 24 hours before requiring replacement. Additional sachets can be ordered if required.
The BB Alert is incredibly simple to use and has been designed for use:
-
By housekeepers in the hospitality industry as part of a monitoring programme
-
By home owners to quickly verify for bed bug activity before and/or after a pest control company specialising in bed bug treatment has been called in.
-
By pest control companies before an inspection takes place and to verify the effectiveness of the treatment.
