Visco elastic memory foam mattress is a bit of a mouthful to say, so usually it is just shortened to ‘memory foam mattress’.
Memory foam has amazing properties that make it perfect for use on a mattress, the reason being that it moulds itself to the shape of your body providing even support all over. This is important when you compare it to a traditional mattress with springs.
The problem with springs is that there are always some parts of your body that are applying more weight and pressure to the springs than other parts, this means that these parts of your body that then are taking the weight and pressure of other parts which can lead to aches and pains, the parts of your body where the pressure is not applied to are left suspended without proper support again leading to aches and pains.
Memory foam solves these issues and provides you with the correct support to your entire body.
There are however good memory foam mattresses and not so good ones, the difference is down to things such as the density of the foam used and the amount of foam used. There are also some mattresses that are sold as if they are memory foam but are not. If it is not genuine memory foam then you will not get the same benefits. As a rule of thumb, if it looks to be very cheap then there is usually a reason. That is not to say that you need to spend a fortune on a memory foam mattress. You should be looking to spend the same as you would expect to spend on a good quality sprung mattress but of course with all the benefits of the memory foam and none of the disadvantages of springs.
As a general guideline you should avoid anything under £200 but equally anything over £1000 is probably unneccesary.
Foam density is important in choosing your memory foam mattress, density is usually referred to by a number. The ideal density is between 55 and 70, anything below 55 is not going to have enough support, anything over 70 could be too firm.
A memory foam mattress cannot be made entirely of memory foam, it needs a lower level of support foam.
All of our memory foam mattresses are manufactured in the UK to the highest of standards, we have them in all popular sizes and split them in to 3 models to suit the weight of the user, again this is important to ensure the correct combination of support foam and memory foam. Select the model that corresponds to the weight of the heaviest user (not the combined weight of both)
Depending on mattress size and model our memory foam mattresses range in price from £250.00 to £599.00 ensuring that you can purchase a high quality, correctly supporting mattress for a realistic price.
