A zip on mattress cover can be required for a variety of reasons, it might simply be that your mattress is looking a little bit tired and you want to give it a new look. It may be that you want to provide some wear and tear protection to a new mattress. It could be that you want to provide waterproof protection to your mattress and want something a bit more substantial than just a fitted sheet style mattress protector.
Of course like everything there are pro’s and con’s to choosing a zip on mattress cover.
For a start they take a bit longer to put on, you need two people ideally to fit it, and of course if you want to take it off to wash it then its a two person job again. You also need to consider the depth of the mattress, some are just too deep to find a zip on cover for. With a standard mattress depth of 8-9 inches you will be fine but if your mattress is say 12 inches or more you will probably struggle to find anything to fit.
The main benefit of a zip on mattress cover over a fitted sheet style one is that once they are on they are not going anywhere, they cant pop off during the night and children and/or guests can’t accidentally remove them.
