We are often asked about and can see that people are often searching on Google and other search engines for a mattress pad. This always leads us to ask the question “What do you mean – a mattress pad?”, because it’s not immediately clear as to what is needed. Yes we can supply a ‘mattress pad’ and have several products available that might be what you are looking for, but we need to know a little more, what is it that you a trying to achieve?

If you want to improve and increase the comfort level of your mattress then that is one thing, there are several options in our range that will do this.

Sometimes a ‘mattress pad’ means a quilted mattress protector (we have several types of these), a quilted mattress protector actually only improves the comfort of your mattress by a small amount as its padding is not actually intended to do this, it is there to provide a padded surface that protects the mattress from wear and tear. If this is what was meant to achieve by the term ‘mattress pad’ then great, its a quilted mattress protector that you really need.

If however it is your comfort that you are looking to improve then you need something slightly different, you need something that has more padding than a quilted mattress protector, what you need is actually a mattress reviver or mattress topper.

A mattress reviver on first inspection looks very similar to a quilted mattress protector, the only difference being that its thicker. A mattress reviver does what it says, it revives the qualities of an older mattress, maybe you can feel the springs or its a bit lumpy and bumpy. The mattress reviver irons out and pads out these imperfections to give you a more comfortable sleeping area.

A mattress topper takes the idea to the next level, because a topper is a much thicker product and in appearance is similar to putting a new mini mattress on top of your current mattress. They can be anything from 1 inch (25mm)  to 3 inches (75mm) in depth.

A mattress topper usually comes in one of two types, either a feather and down filled topper or one made from memory foam. Both serve a similar purpose and greatly improve the comfort of your mattress, I prefer the memory foam mattress topper, they really are great to sleep on, but it is down (excuse the pun) to personal preference.

Finally some people searching for a ‘mattress pad’ are actually looking for an absorbent bed pad that sits on the mattress and is used to assist with continence issues, again not a problem we have these as well.

So whichever ‘mattress pad’ you are looking for, we have it. We might just have to ask a few more questions to make sure we provide you with the right one.
