A baby travel cot is pretty much essential when taking baby anywhere away from home, whether it be on holiday or to just stay over with friends and family. Baby’s own cot is of course to big, bulky and heavy to take with you and you should never put baby in bed with you. The only sensible option is a baby travel cot, this will provide a clean, safe sleeping environment that is compact enough to take with you, and as it is your’s you will know where it has been and who has slept in it and how clean it is. All issues if you are using somebody else’s baby travel cot.
There are essentially two kinds of baby travel cot, one is the traditional type which fold down and fit inside their own travel case. They can be quite bulky and heavy but do at least fold down to a manageable size. They are probably best suited for travelling within your home country where they can be stowed in the boot of the car with relative ease and can then be quickly assembled at your destination. They tend to be quite spacious and comfortable for baby if a little bulky.
The other kind of baby travel cot is the pop up type, these have a sprung framework that is folded down in to its own carry bag, as soon as you remove it from the bag it springs into shape and is ready to use. These kind benefit from being much lighter and more compact than the traditional type and are great where luggage space is at a premium, as the smallest of these baby travel cots can fit quite easily inside your own luggage. They are both stylish and easy to use and usually come complete with insect screens.
The choice really comes down to how small you need them to pack down to, if space is limited then go for a pop up one, if not then go for the traditional one with its strong structure and near cot size.
